Structure : MET Moment frames with Glued-in rods connections / Conventional MET glulam structures of level 2 / CLT floor.
Status : in progress.
The building is a 80m long community center located next to Bedok Reservoir. The building is a 2 storey building partially open to wind and supporting an accessible landscape roof. The structure is a series of 24 singular glulam frames.
Each frame is a moment frame, which geometry transition seamlessly from one end of the building to another to cater to various architectural constrains. The frames are braced by a generalized steel bracing system back to RC and CLT shear walls.
A glued in rod connection at the frame corner has been developed and first time introduced in Singapore to provide rigid splice connections.
We are proud to have taken part to this challenging adventure with Venturer timberworks and Ronnie & Koh.
Studio Oktoplus has provided the optimisation of the roof geometry at early stage to integrate smoothly the numerous occupational constrains. We have provided the overall structure design and the development of the key frame connections from Tender to Detail Design.
